In 2019, the Espen Berg Trio made a solid impression on the jazz industry gathered at the jazzahead! festival. Music of the Plants: Seeds of Earth - Sun, 14th Jan'24

Chiyo Kaiga and Kackey form the Japanese Duo “Music of the Plants: Seeds of Earth.” They not only explore the synergy between European and African musical traditions but also engage in spontaneous improvisation, using innovative tools like the “Bamboo” device. Their musical dialogue with nature resonates in their performances, creating a unique musical experience. Chiyo Kaiga engages the audience with her piano and vocal talents, while Kackey adds the rhythmic beats of the djembe and his vocals. Together, they compose and perform songs inspired by a deep connection to nature, creating a harmony that blends the earthy tones of drums with the notes of the piano.

Evening Ecstasy - Wed, 17th Jan'24

This performance of Indian Classical Music featuring Arnab Bhattacharya on the Sarod, presenting an Evening Melody, accompanied by Nilimesh Chakraborty on Tabla. The performance will commence with an Alaap or Introduction, followed by a rhythmic cycle where the tempo gradually builds to its peak. Experience a musical dialogue between melody and rhythm, enriched with moments of question and answer.

The play revolves around two groups, Khanjar and Fanihar, fighting over a piece of land. Amid these conflicts, the play emphasises the vital importance of love and a peaceful society. Love, like food and water, is portrayed as a basic necessity for a healthy environment. The story reveals a harsh truth about society — a lingering feudal mindset that harms unity. It encourages us to be aware of such negative thinking and take positive steps for change, regardless of caste, creed, or gender. Ultimately, the play calls for a more inclusive and understanding society.

My Home at the Intersection - Wed, 17th Jan'24 - Thu, 18th Jan'24

Abhishek Thapar went on a search for the truth(s) of the past when he decided to travel to his hometown. Together with his mother, father and sister, he re-visited his childhood home: a house that had disappeared, a place they all thought they had forgotten and which yet persisted, preserved in a jar of haunting images, between official histories and the personal memories of three generations. In a final pursuit of closure, the family returned to the house and moved back in. Together they created a work of art. In the intimate setting of his performance, Abhishek Thapar unfolds moments from a personal journey into a contorted past in dialogue with documents from an attempt of a ritual of - ‘going back, to make sure that you have forgotten about the past’.
