The Eastern Mosaic Project - Sat, 20th Jan'24
Eastern Mosaic, is a group that brings together the realms of Indian Classical, world, and Spiritual music to create a unique experience. These artists from both North and South Indian Classical music, collaborate in presenting compositions that push the boundaries of traditional genres. They have Denis Kucherov, on the melodic percussion handpan and live looping, Malvica Chopra on sitar and Mahesh Vinayakram, the son of Ghatam Master, Vikku Vinayakram. They will imbue the concert with a blend of rhythms and melodies.

Through exquisite storytelling, the film unveils Daniélou's conversion to Hinduism, his professional mastery of the Veena, and prolific writings on the Vedas, Hindu philosophy, and Shivaism. His journey embraced the essence of India's cultural landscape, beautifully captured against the backdrops of Shantiniketan, Varanasi, Khajuraho, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, and Pondicherry. Encounter an array of Indian intellectuals, musicians, and dancers whose narratives weave an intricate tapestry, unveiling the rich artistic legacy of India.
Samay Raag - Sun, 21st Jan'24
Sushma’s project, the Samay Raag Series is an earnest attempt to experience the impact of Samay (Time) while rendering a raga outdoors amongst the elements. The connection of time with the raga or raginis is based on daily cycle of changes that occur in our own body and mind, arouse and stimulate different moods and emotions. The venue for this performance is an extension of the Samay Raag project, BIC’s Amphitheatre. This programme will showcase evening and sunset ragas, transitioning into the night. The evening will also experience emotions through the semi-classical lens namely Thumri and Devotional.
Aspirations - A Tabla Trio Performance - Sun, 21st Jan'24

Sparks - Mahabharata Opera Project - Tue, 23rd Jan'24
As part of Attakkalari India Biennial 2024, the grand world preview of Sparks Mahabharata Opera Project – Mantras, Fights & Threnody, produced by Kama Productions with Ensemble MusikFabrik, in collaboration with Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts, presents a unique musical theatre experience based on the revered Indian epic Mahabharata. Set to the composition of maestro Riccardo Nova, directed by Giorgio Barberio Corsetti and choreographed by Jayachandran Palazhy, the 70 minutes production promises an enthralling display of artistic brilliance. This contemporary interpretation of selected sections of Mahabharata embarks on a European tour afterwards, gracing the esteemed Roma Europa Festival among others.

Yakshagaana performance - Shri Devi Mahatme - Sat, 20th Jan'24
Shri Devi Mahatme describes the victory of the goddess Durga over various demons including Chanda, Munda, Mahishasura, Rakthabija, Shumbha and Nishumbha. Yakshagana is a traditional folk art form popular in Coastal Karnataka districts. A trip to the coastal belt would be incomplete without watching the Yakshagana – an elaborate dance-drama performance unique to Karnataka. It is a rare combination of dance, music, song, scholarly dialogues and colourful costumes.

In the year 2024’s 19th Drishti National Dance Festival titled -“Nritya Sandesha”, showcases the human values and principles that we must uphold for the betterment and growth of society through the medium of dance. Kuch Urdu, Kuch Noor, Kuch Guftagu is an hour long poetry and interactive storytelling special. The show is sprinkled with plenty of Hindi & English explanations between Urdu recitations. The selections include original poems as well as works of classic Urdu shayars such as Faiz Ahmad Faiz and Jaun Elia. They cover a host of emotions, moving from vulnerable to intense, but often with humor. The recitation themes span the beauty of Urdu, fidelity, heartbreak, resilience, life, philosophy, etc. This presentation will bring Urdu to the audience in a light, playful & personal vein.

The work involves the artist standing still for the entire duration while the audience is invited to put a finger imprint on one (or more) places on her body where they have been touched inappropriately using the white paint. Introducing Suta’s Artisanal Studio Sessions – an innovative new way for Suta Queens to engage with artisans and learn about heirloom Indian crafts in an intimate setting. Suta’s Bengaluru store will host a workshop on Kasuti embroidery led by Tara Ashok Hulamani, an accomplished artisan from Hubli, Karnataka, who has been perfecting the Kasuti art form for close to three decades. Kasuti embroidery is an ancient and intricate craft hailing from Karnataka, India, characterised by fine, rhythmic patterns of stitches. Traditionally executed with black silk thread on a contrasting base fabric, Kasuti designs often feature geometric shapes and motifs inspired by nature. This art form showcases the meticulous skill and cultural significance of the craft within the Deccan region.

My Home at the Intersection - Thu, 18th Jan'24
Abhishek Thapar went on a search for the truth(s) of the past when he decided to travel to his hometown. Together with his mother, father and sister, he re-visited his childhood home: a house that had disappeared, a place they all thought they had forgotten and which yet persisted, preserved in a jar of haunting images, between official histories and the personal memories of three generations. In a final pursuit of closure, the family returned to the house and moved back in. Together they created a work of art. In the intimate setting of his performance, Abhishek Thapar unfolds moments from a personal journey into a contorted past in dialogue with documents from an attempt of a ritual of - ‘going back, to make sure that you have forgotten about the past’.

Tales in Transit is an anthology of 6 original short plays by Tahatto, performed by the participants of Tahatto's Enter Stage Right - the theatre workshop. Written by Prashanth Nair, Badarivishal Kinhal and Piyush Agarwal, each of the 6 stories have one common theme - that of transit. Funny, tongue-in-cheek and mildly-philosophical, the stories involve the obvious nature of physical transit, but more importantly carry in them a sense of moving on, for the characters in the stories and the audience. Come on board and take a journey that lasts 75mins, and who knows, you'll see things a little differently when you alight.

This film explores the sacred music, dance and rituals of devidasis and devidasas, women and men dedicated to the goddess renuka/Yellamma. It ventures over boundaries of geography, society, and gender in the sacred music of specialist musicians – women, men, and transgenders – whose lives are dedicated to a fertility goddess of the deccan plateau in Southern India. A conversation with the filmmaker will follow the screening.

A momentary act of revenge transforms the lives of two young Indian women forever. Acid attack survivors Ritu and Faraha, daily navigate a sea of odd currents while carrying on their faces the scars of human brutality. Strangely enough, Ritu’s scars have also brought her fame. She occasionally finds herself talking on television, modelling at fashion events, or even featuring in a Bollywood film. Still, she often feels lonely. She wants to be loved and embraces an ambiguous relationship with a fellow female acid attack survivor. Faraha, on the other hand, has come to terms with her post-attack singlehood and her new lease of life. As she begins to enjoy freedom and independence, a desire to become a mother begins to brew inside her. Intertwining shadow and light, hope and hopelessness in Ritu and Faraha’s lives, Ayena becomes a mirror for our own reflections.
