Fiddling Monk presents 'Rupakam'. It is the third in the series of Tala Pravaham concerts, after ‘Dhruva’ and 'Matya'. A first of its kind concert based on Rupaka Talam. Five origial compositions in five Jaatis composed by Vidwan Kumaresh Rajagopalan a.k.a Fiddling Monk. A one of a kind, unique concert conceptualised, composed and performed by Fiddling Monk.

Ashwini Koushik’s Enchanting Ilaiyaraaja - Sat, 25th Nov'23

Ashwini Koushik’s Ilaiyaraaja orchestral series are the purest orchestral recreation of Maestro’s Ilaiyaraaja’s most iconic compositions. The 20 piece band features many of his original musicians. Apart from some of the greatest hit songs performed by highly talented singers, Ashwini Koushik will perform pieces from the Maestro’s orchestral compositions such as How To Name It and Nothing But Wind. As always, Ashwini Koushik’s Ilaiyaraaja music shows are an effort in recreating the Maestro’s music in its purest and most authentic form.

Hindustani Music Concert - Sun, 26th Nov'23

BCC are thrilled to invite you to Swar Sammilan - a journey into the enchanting world of Hindustani Classical Music! Vidwan Ashish Nayak is a Hindustani Classical Vocalist of Gwalior and Mewati Gharana. He started his light music training from renowned musician Shri Shankar Shanbhogue at the age of 10. Parallely he also learned the Harmonium from Shri Suresh Nayak. From the age of 18, Ashish started his Hindustaani Classical Vocal training under Pt. Venkatesh Alkod of Gwalior Gharana and is a disciple of Pt. Puttaraja Gawai. He also feels fortunate to learn under the tutelage of Pt. Sanjeev Abhyankar, a renowned international Hindustaani Classical Vocalist and disciple of Pt. Jasraj of Mewati Gharana.

Kalarpan - URise Utsav Day 1 - Sat, 25th Nov'23

Annual Day forms an integral part of URise Vedic Sangeetha Academy. It is an occasion of celebration, felicitation, feast and festivity when students present not only their wonderful performances but also receive honors for their progress and achievements. Since 1999, UVSA have created a special podium titled 'Kalarpan’, an offering to the world of art wherein all the children of our academy perform for their parents & certain distinguished guests. Students who are undertaking Carnatic Vocal lessons are welcome to attend this session handled by Fusion Waves Music Academy's Expert Voice Coach and PAMA - Certified Arts Educator. It is a group class of 10 students in a batch focusing exclusively on the Raga improvisation and the voice training aspects. Participating students will gain knowledge about how to develop and improvise any Raga and how to develop the Raga aalapana and singing style with aesthetic presentation for stage shows, competitions, concerts, family gatherings and public events. Please note that these classes are only for the intermediate level students who have at least learnt 10 Geethams or Varnams in more than 5 different Ragas.

Apne Ghar Jaisa - Thu, 23rd Nov'23 & Fri, 24th Nov'23

‘Apne Ghar Jaisa’ creates an image of everyday bigotry and its potential to impoverish the self and tear apart the social fabric. In an extremely diverse and stratified society, people learn to be tolerant and accommodating, but they can also be instigated — by public discord or personal tragedy, for instance — into giving vent to often subliminal prejudices and irrational fears. The protagonist in the play finds all kinds of reasons for turning away an unwelcome guest — not only to protect her identity but also to cope with loss and grief. In the process, she enters a dark place within herself, constructs caricatures of people 'not like us’, and destroys the very thing she most cherishes and wants to preserve.

Ishtihaar - Fri, 24th Nov'23

'Ishtihaar' conceived and compiled by Deevas Gupta is a collection of three different short stories by Manto stitched together via poetry freshly written by Deevas himself. The whole experience of the blunt narration of Manto and the satirical tone of poetry will not only teleport you to the times these stories were written in but will also make you realise how relevant these themes are even today. Although he is mostly remembered for his most controversial stories yet there were many more flavours in his stories which are very less often discussed. Ishtihaar attempts to bring different flavours of Saadat Hasan Manto and bring his favourite characters to life through the art of storytelling.

Miss Sevanthi - Fri, 24th Nov'23

Sevanthi, a ballon seller in the streets of tippe cross leads a tough life . A chance meeting with Bhargava , a kannada professor of linguistics turns her world upside down. Bhargava is so sure of his abilities that he takes it upon himself to transform a working class girl into someone who can pass off for a cultured member of high society. Sevanthi agrees to take speech lessons to improve her job prospects. The rest of the play is about her transformation and its consequences.

Jaam-E-Shahadat - Fri, 24th Nov'23, Sat, 25th Nov'23 & Sun, 26th Nov'23

A theatrical adaptation of Saadat Hasan Manto’s story Shaheed – Saaz is a sharp satirical look at the post partition era when people were swayed with the idea of sacrifice and martyrdom even as they struggled to adapt to a new national identity. The immense loss of life and property resulted in poor migrants living at the mercy of charity. And yet few shrewd businessmen profited from this, painting their profiteering with the colors of supreme sacrifice and martyrdom. Set in 1948 the story is about the journey of one such Punjabi migrant from Kathiawad, Gujarat in India to Lahore in Pakistan. Belonging to the class of ‘Baniyas’ the man, who had a successful business of cocaine in Kathiawad, Gujarat, travels to Pakistan in search of setting up a new big business in his newly formed homeland. Working hard to build his empire and multiply his wealth, he is suddenly struck by a misplaced angst that he had neglected doing any charitable work since his arrival here. He starts searching for that one charitable act which will earn him his place in heaven. But nothing seems worthy of his benevolence as he travels through the length and breadth of the city and shares his experiences after interacting with people of all types and classes.

The Good Doctor - Sat, 25th Nov'23

The Good Doctor - is written by Neil Simon as an homage to the short stories of Anton Chekov. This collection of four vignettes exposes the ridiculous, tender, outlandish, ludicrous, innocent and weird frailties of human beings through the narration of a writer. Each vignette tells its own story, but the behaviour of the characters and the resolutions of their stories are not typical or predictable.

Kanta Mattu Kanta - Sat, 25th Nov'23

Two theatre actors. Now aged. Quite aged. Equally talented but cannot shed their egos. Once upon a time, they were a popular pair. For reasons best known to them, they stopped seeing each other, they stopped talking to each other. They last appeared on stage some 16 years ago. Now there is an opportunity (opportunity? to come on stage together. They have to forget their acrimony and come on stage. Is it possible to celebrate friendship after a long separation? Is a new life possible?

Karadipura Circus Company - Sat, 25th Nov'23

“Karadipura Circus Company” - is a Kannada Comedy play, a fictional story of a poor circus company located in Karadipura Village. The story revolved around the Survival and everyday struggles of the circus company and its artists surrounded by various extremely funny characters. The Story takes off to a different note when revival of circus is planned with introduction of an ultimate crowd puller (a fictional animal) and introduction of new characters and twists. What is the twist? will they be successful, come witness the ultimate laugh roller coaster of emotions and comedy!

Dear Diary, Today my mum told me I shouldn't wear jeans because my thighs are fat but when I... Did you face problems as a kid that seemed overbearing? We've all faced moments that stuck with us. Often, they become a part of our identities. Join to explore such real moments as Yours Truly Theater the show "Dear Diary..." A theatrical performance that explores 4 life-defining Diaries written by 4 kids. It is presented in the popular in-house format Complete the Story. A format that presents a rehearsed piece but allows you to decide how the stories end. From the craziness of Rajnikant saving the day to a dose of harsh realism with depression, the only limitations are your imagination. An extravagant gala filled with, raw emotions, inanimate perspectives, songs, games and much more. It can help you reflect and understand how such moments of truth might have influenced your life and help young adults come to face the challenges they face from a third party perspective.

Last Bench - Sun, 26th Nov'23

Last bench is a story of a kid from his house to his seat in the last bench. We enter into child's dream world and though how crazy the dreamworld may be, it is still less complicated than the real world where the kid has to deal with growing competition and enter into the race of learning multiple skills. The play has various elements that includes clowning, mime and audience interaction, it is both entertaining for kids and a world of nostalgia for adults.

Magadi Days - Tue, 28th Nov'23

‘Magadi Days’, written and directed by Abhishek Iyengar in Kannada is a political satire which revolves around the characters inspired from the famed BBC’s serial ‘Yes Minister’. The play is based on a series of political consequences that arise in the town Magadi situated near Bangalore. The story of the play unfolds when the state of Karnataka gets its new chief minister who is highly educated and a former IT employee. With great ambitions and desires, he dawns the power to bring in transparency in the way government functions. In order to achieve this, he orders all his ministers to update their status of work on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media network. Not satisfied with this new rule or policy the bureaucratic section of the government headed by the chief secretary of the state plots a plan to bring down this rule, and what happens next is the crux of the play Magadi days. Caught in between this battle of political section and the bureaucratic section are two other characters ‘Ibu’ and ‘Lakkawwa’ who hails from Magadi. What happens to ‘Ibu’ and ‘Lakkawwa’ when chief minister meets them for a By-election forms the concluding part of the play Magadi days.
