It is Ranga Shankara Theatre Festival time! This year’s Festival has "Narratives & Narratives" as it's theme. Taking place from Oct 27th to Nov 1st at Ranga Shankara and from Oct 29th to Nov 1st at Jagriti Theatre, this festival showcases six distinctive plays, each a testament to the diverse artistry of celebrated Indian theatre directors including S Surendranath, Ajithesh Gupta, Mohit Agarwal, Mohit Takalkar, Nimmy Raphel, Bagrudeen M and Sripad Bhat. For the first time since its inception, Ranga Shankara is twinning a part of its Ranga Shankara Theatre Festival this year at the Jagriti Theatre in Whitefield! A selection of four plays will be showcased there. The plays promise to captivate audiences with their diverse narrative styles, ranging from a young boy's perspective to the profound influence of proverbs in daily life, offering a vibrant array of theatrical experiences.
To Kill a Mockingbird - Sat, 28th Oct'23
"To Kill a Mockingbird" is a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Harper Lee and adapted by Christopher Sergel, set in 1930s America in a fictional town named Maycomb. It revolves around Scout Finch, her brother Jem and their father Atticus. Atticus, a lawyer, defends Tom Robinson, a black man accused of raping a white woman. The story delves into the children's observations of racial prejudice, moral dilemmas and societal norms. Through Scout's coming-of-age perspective, the story examines the complexities of innocence, injustice and the human capacity for compassion.

Every Human is chained to a commitment and is busy working towards it. Some are ready to sacrifice anything over money and some are tired of earning and have no zeal for happiness. If this beautiful journey of life is just meant to earn or follow the mechanical schedule or grieve over the past , what is the point in living such a life? To support this state of mind as the 'Ideal' one , we find some people very positive, relaxed, happy, ever smiling.. how can that be possible? This clearly proves that it is the state of mind that matters and not the situation which brings him down. This play 'Suddenaag Sathodre?!' written and directed by Shylesh Kumar MM deals with this issue. This play enlightens the audience with its message and mainly serves the tonic of laughter to them. This entire play is constructed in The writer's favorite style i.e. conveying a deep message with a comic touch. Audience will surely swim in the ocean of laughter during the play and will Ponder over the message conveyed after it connects.
Tughlaq - Sun, 29th Oct'23
Tughlaq is a play about the turbulent rule of Mohammed Bin Tughlaq. The protagonist, Tughlaq had great ideas and a grand vision, but his reign was an abject failure. Tughlaq was known for his reformist ideas, one of which was shifting the capital from Delhi to Daulatabad in order to have a capital that is in the centre of his province. This play covers the consequences that followed this decision. The play dramatically highlights the importance of credibility and authenticity for a leader. The play outline his clever plots to eliminate his opponents and ends with scenes of utter chaos and misery in the kingdom and Tughlaq is being left alone, having been abandoned by those who survived him.
