He gives us an insight into where our nation stands on education and, through that lens, into the nation itself. He shows us an India that is waiting for better infrastructure and one where the right to education is in constant struggle with the need for survival. But what emerges is the heart-warming and life-affirming story of how people and communities, energised from within, are changing lives—of individuals and the nation. This book is testimony to the essence of education: “The heart of the matter is that it is a matter of the heart.”

While the play is faithful to the popular narrative of the Mahabharata, the creative expression takes place in the interpretation and depiction of the plethora of inner voices and thought processes. This is a fresh examination of the great epic and the theatre process has been led from an intuitive space. The primary aim is to bring to the fore the increasing relevance and relatability of the Mahabharata in today’s world. This is an attempt to witness the Mahabharata happening in our lives as we examine our own decisions, voices, priorities and choices. The production uses storytelling, body theatre, Kalaripayattu, dance, song, music, movement, poetry and multiple languages in expression.

Mareta Daari - Sun, 21st May’23

Play Mareta Daari is based on notes left by late Badal Sircar’s for his last play Bhul Raasta. As a part of a corrupt system and dictatorial inclinations this prince happens to get lost and meets a tribal community. After accepting their ways of life based on natural living, peaceful co-existence and sensible truths, the prince decides towards conscious living amongst them. Perhaps today’s frustration, pain and complex problems faced by modern societies are a direct result of their disconnection with nature and the philosophy of natural living. Relevant to today’s times, the play uses satirical underpinnings to meet the urgent requirements of a broken society and not just an individual. In trying to portray the vastness of natural cosmic culture to an amnesiac crowd, the play uses a touch of Tao philosophy.
