TEDx Bangalore 2023 - Safe Spaces - Sun, 28th May’23

In a world flooded with free information, cheap devices, and intelligent technologies trying to make sense of everything, our attention and trust have become precious commodities. Concerted misinformation campaigns globally have eroded our belief in public and private institutions alike. Macro trends of digital weaponization, mass surveillance, cultural intolerance, communal aggression, privacy violations, and crippled healthcare delivery have left many of us feeling helpless. Is technology still our panacea? In such a challenging environment, safe spaces are essential because they serve as oases of possibility in the barren information desert. They exist not only to protect us from threats but to inspire the best in us. This is precisely why we must reimagine them and design them from scratch so humans, machines, and nature can securely identify, fully trust, and confidently operate in these new environments. Technology and well-being are absolutely vital to our long-term ability to manage risk and become resilient to threats. And safe spaces are where we will foster new-age collaboration.

And often drown in the not so shallow waters of shame and self loathing, subjecting the body to all kinds of violence. Violence that is subtle, layered and surprisingly funny! Aranya Kānda - Tue, 30th May’23

Sita and Rama spent the first thirteen years of their exile like young lovers. The youth knew it was inappropriate to procreate during their stay in the forest. Hence, Aranya Kānda is also an extraordinary love story. It’s necessary for a play to have conflict and contradiction. In this story infatuation is depicted contrary to Love. Shoorpanakhi is as beautiful as Sita. She is infatuated with Rama. Sita’s love is giving but Shoorpanakhi’s infatuation is demanding; while Rama is a noble warrior who never lets go of his honour. Their births as arya or asura does not make their status differ. This iteration attempts to look at The Ramayana from a new perspective.
